Brooklyn is a perfect place to stay if you are not looking for a standard hotel room. The owner, a filmmaker, designer and public artist, has made Brooklyn a place to stay for people, artists, makers and lovers of the arts, literature, painting, music, sculpture, philosophy, craft, film and animation. Seven guest rooms can accommodate up to 12 people. The two Queen Ensuite rooms upstairs feature enormous bedrooms, each with high ceilings and adjacent bathrooms. One has a piano. Each has a light and airy private sitting room with wood-paneled ceilings, polished floors, and large opening windows looking out on to George Street and across to the city. The two queen rooms downstairs at the front of the building look out to a leafy verandah where you can sit and relax, and watch the locals meander by. These huge bed-sitting rooms share a bathroom off the greenhouse walkway and garden. The spacious standard double, twin and single rooms lead directly onto the greenhouse walkway and garden. Fitzroy s great mix of people makes this one of the most interesting parts of Melbourne to hang out in. Brooklyn is located in George Street - a captivating mix of old and new Fitzroy. A two-minute walk to the end of the street leads you to the Gertrude Street's arts and fashion, galleries and caf s, then up to Brunswick Street bars and restaurants or down to Smith Street the old working-class Fitzroy. The city is only a 15-minute stroll through the Fitzroy Gardens. You can also take the local tram into the city to the National Gallery, the Melbourne Concert Hall, Federation Square, Victoria Market or down to St Kilda beach. We feel sure that Brooklyn will be one of those places you ll be glad you found.
