Gardner’s Bay is a 45-minute drive south of Hobart (62 kilometres) in the Huon Valley/D’Entrecasteaux Channel region. The three-bedroom Hartzview Vineyard Homestead accommodates up to six guests. The property has a separate bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen and there is a log fire in the living area. Continental breakfast provisions, including freshly baked bread and locally-made jams, are supplied and dinner can also be provided on request. The property has views across the vineyard and Huon River to the Hartz Mountains in the distance. Built in late-Victorian style, the homstead has been decorated with antiques and period-style furnishings and is surrounded by a shady verandah. Guests can visit the Hartzview Wine Centre to enjoy a complimentary tasting of 20 Tasmanian wines and fruit ports. There are a number of bushwalks on the property, or you can explore the local area including the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, Huon Valley and Bruny Island and the Hartz Mountains National Park. The three-hectare Hartzview Vineyard was established in 1988 on the site of an old gooseberry farm. Picker’s huts used in the early 1900s can still be seen along the lane to the homestead.
