Beyond the bends of Beechworth you arrive in the hamlet of Stanley, once a bustling goldmining town during the 1850s.
The town had a number of hotels, a bakery, general store, boot maker, carpenter, butcher, saw mill, brewery and inn. Today, Stanley has the local Provender/Cafe ,General Store and all located in the Historic Stanley Store circa 1853 and the Stanley Pub, which stands on the original site of the old Star Hotel.

In season, there is a delicious array of local produce: apples, nuts and berries for purchase or pick your own, Close to Stanley township is Mt Stanley,and Murmungee lookouts with spectacular views from the summit of the Victorian Alps and surrounding forest.
A great place to unwind with a coffee and enjoy the local produce, or even spend a night or two in one of the many unique guesthouse available.
