The Terroni Story
Cafe Terroni is an authentic Southern Italian style cafe/restaurant in the heart of Yarraville Village, just four doors from the iconic Sun theatre offering rustic food, great coffee and unique local and Italian wines at affordable prices.
The menu is mostly uncomplicated - using fresh seasonal produce maintaining the simple processes and cuisine of the Southern Italian kitchen. The menu reflects a resurrection of some old recipes from regional towns whilst also offering some favourites. From the specialty home made gnocchi, and ravioli to the signature twice cooked duck and the famouse tiramisu .Daily specials are their forte so there is always something for everyone at Cafe Terroni.
The cafe/restaurant has a distinctive Italian feel with an old fashioned, cosy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There is lots of wood, marble, tiles, blackboards, old family photos and charm throughout this quaint venue. Soft lighting and Italian music play in the background and the upstairs dining room seats 35 people which is also available for private functions.
Joe and Angela (owners and husband wife) opened Cafe Terroni in November 2008 after they noticed the area was missing an authentic Italian restaurant. They totally transformed the old shop in six months into a celebration of their family memories, culture and cuisine. Their goal was and is to provide customers with a unique dining experience that exceeds their expectations on every visit. They believe a good meal should always be shared with someone else and they invite you to experience real Southern Italian food with family and friends.
This family run business employs two chefs and Joe's mother even lends a hand in the kitchen, producing old family recipes passed down from generations. This ensures that everyone can experience a taste of the true Terroni.
