Gumleaf Cottage Early Years Learning is an award winning child care service established in 1985. In 2013 the service was named as NSW/ACT Early Childhood Service of the Year through the Australian Family Early Education & Care Awards.
The service is still managed on a daily basis by the original owners. It is testament to the professional ability of management and the educators in being able to adapt to change that we have progressed to become the service we are today.
The service is committed to maintaining open, positive lines of communication when collaborating with children, families, educators and external agencies in meeting the needs of children.
Our daily programs and interactions with the children are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework which comprises five learning outcomes to support and enhance the children's learning.
Most of those learning outcomes can be achieved through four main focus areas:
: nature and the environment
: sensory and science experiences – exploration and discovery
: physical, health and nutrition - including cooking; and
: creative expression - music and artistic development.
Gumleaf Cottage is noted for it's inclusive practices and work with additional needs children. The educators have a strong working relationship with the local early childhood intervention services who support the educators in their work with additional needs children on a weekly basis.
We proudly support second generation Gumleaf Cottage children - children of children who attended the service in it's early years. This is fantastic recognition of the impact the service has had in working with the local community over the years.
Our aim is support the local families by keeping our fees as low as possible; by providing nutritious meals; by providing a sound educational program; and by providing a welcoming, inclusive service where everyone feels supported.
