BACK TO SCHOOL & BACK TO WORK
Back to school time is also for many of us, back to work time. It is important that both kids and adults have well fitted and sensible shoes for school and work. The right shoe does not necessarily need to be an expensive one, it just needs to tick a few boxes.
- it should fit. Yes, this sounds obvious, but many people present with ill fitting shoes on a regular basis. Remember there is no such thing as a 'wearing in' period. Shoes should be comfortable in the shop. As adults, we can have a fingers width between the longest toe and the end of the shoe, children can have up to two fingers.
- it should be flexible in the front - where our toes bend. This is particularly important for children.
- it should be relatively rigid through the mid section. That's where our feet need the most help.
- ideally, the shoe should be made of natural material, like leather. Synthetics tend to made our feet sweat which can predispose us to issues like tinea.
If you are concerned about your, or your children's feet make an appointment to have a professional opinion. Much of the time, foot problems are easily rectified by the right shoe, or some simple insoles.
