Welcome to the website for Toowong Uniting Church.
I remember how weird everything seemed the first time I went to a church! I wasnt used to singing, words were being used that I did not understand and, worst of all, everyone else seemed to know what was going on, whilst I remained clueless.
At Toowong Uniting Church, we cant guarantee that things wont seem weird, but our desire is to live and explain the Christian faith with as much clarity, authenticity and relevance as we can. Jesus teaching demands that our values are different from the way things normally are. Noticing God at work in our lives, seeing and treating people with genuine dignity, and caring about the world enough to try to make a positive difference in it are all key values that motivate us.
When Jesus emphasised three commandments:
to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (the Great Commandment),
to love one another as Jesus loved us (the New Commandment), and
to go into all the world to make disciples of the nations (the Final Commandment or Great Commission)
he gave us a mandate to love God, love others and do mission. These are the tasks on which our sights are set.
