Eric Briggs is a Clinical Psychologist who has practiced as a registered psychologist since 2006. Eric completed his undergraduate training at the University of Sydney where he was awarded first class Honours in Psychology.
He then completed a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of New England followed by a year of specialist training to achieve endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Eric has completed training in a range of therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Eric has expertise in working with teenagers and adults with a variety of mild to severe psychological difficulties. He works with general psychological issues such as anxiety and depression, as well as posttraumatic stress disorder, chronic trauma, substance abuse, adjustment issues, and emotion regulation and personality difficulties. Eric approaches all issues with a deeply empathic understanding and adopts an integrative approach to therapy that is flexible and relevant. Evidence based mindfulness and cognitive and behavioural strategies are employed to promote personal effectiveness in the regulation of emotions, positive self-regard and personal dignity.
As well as being a provider of Clinical Psychology services under Medicare, Eric is a registered provider for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service, and WorkCover Australia. Eric also provides supervision to Clinical Psychology students.
