TEMHCO Inc (Top End Mental Health Consumer Organization Inc), is a not for profit, Palmerston based, member driven, community organization that promotes good mental health, life skills development, education, training and the reduction of stigma surrounding mental illness.
We were established in 1996 and the office and activities base has been located in Rolyat Street Palmerston since 2009. This location is seen as one which is easy to access via public transport and central to a range of community services such as Centrelink, Medicare, Palmerston Superclinic, TEMHS (Top End Mental Health Service) Palmerston Office and general shopping.
We produce a regular newsletter, conduct community mental health awareness campaigns, host regular peer support groups, drop in and activities as well as offering system advocacy services and referral services to consumers having difficulty with getting their story across.
We liaise with Government and mental health services to offer consumer feedback and expertise on current services being offered and what is needed to improve those services. We network with a wide range of community organizations, and are a founding member of the Northern Territory Mental Health Coalition Inc.
