After completing a Bachelor degreee in Applied Social Science (Counselling) Kyla worked in a range of fields with people with complex mental health issues and recieved training specifically in Food Disorder Treatment with the Royal Women's Hospital. Kyla has worked in Victim Support working in partnership with Queensland Police Service and specialises in working with people with anxiety and depression, at risk of self-harm, and working with victims of serious crime and trauma. Largely Kyla's experience is working with people who have experienced trauma and developed a range of coping behaviours such as food disorders, alcohol and drug use/abuse, anxiety and depression, and relationship issues. Kyla has been fortunate to have worked in the Homelessness Sector, Disability Services and Carer Support programs, supporting carers of people with mental health and physical health issues and how this impacts upon family relationships.
