Gregory Street Psychology is a team of psychologists who provide counselling and therapy for people of all ages. Each psychologist has particular areas of treatment interest, and we aim to link you in with the psychologist who is most experienced in treating your particular condition.
Dr Caroline Schwerkolt is a Clinical and Health Psychologist. She helps people manage the psychological impact of chronic and acute health conditions. Caroline works on reducing problems that can accompany and contribute to illness and injury, such as chronic pain, addiction, poor sleep, eating problems, anxiety, depression and emotional reactions such as anger and grief. She also assists people to cope with terminal illness, including the impact of loss, bereavement, death and dying.
Dr Erin Kelly specialises in providing psychological strategies for the management of anxiety and stress, including perfectionism. Erin also helps people of all ages build self-esteem, manage grief, with parenting skills and enhancing effective communication abilities.
Brad Mertens enjoys working with adults, adolescents and children, as well as parents and carers, when required. Brad's therapeutic focus is on the management of anxiety, phobias (including fear of social situations), depression, bipolar disorder, and coping with loss. In his previous work at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Brad further developed his skills in the niche of health psychology. He helped individuals and carers facing the challenges of conditions such as cancer and epilepsy, those needing assistance after a neurological trauma (such as a stroke), and other areas of psychological practice as it relates to health. Brad runs regular group therapy programs at Gregory Street as a way of extending mental health care under the Better Access Medicare Scheme.
Also at the practice are Professor Mark Andersen, Ms Sian Balmer, Dr Donna Simpkins and Mr Murray Kirkwood. See our website for further details regarding these practitioners.
