Bad things happen to the best of us. The resulting trauma impacts our lives in ways we could never anticipate. Relationships suffer as a result. Symptoms of a deeper issue affect how we relate with our children, our partners, our parents and ourselves.
I am passionate about helping people achieve healthy, safe and joyous relationships. We can not dismiss the pain, but we can certainly walk through it together with confidence and with courage.
When you visit - this is your space; a nurturing, gentle, non-judgemental and confidential space. Talk and be heard. Explore how past pain, trauma, grief or loss may have affected your ability to communicate, connect and move forward with your loved ones.
Couples and families come in all shapes and sizes: married, de facto and same-sex couples; single or two-parent households, blended families. Whoever you are - welcome!
Trauma can occur after exposure to natural disasters, family violence, childhood abuse, or the death of someone close. Sometimes past trauma reawakens when relationships are stressed. Healing these emotional wounds takes time, strength and guidance. If you have experienced trauma, you know how difficult it is for loved ones to understand what you are going through. What is a normal response? Is the way I feel abnormal, are my children and partner acting strange in the circumstances?
I have been working as a counsellor for over ten years. I draw on current theory and research about the neurobiological effects of trauma to assist relationship recovery. My professional mission is to heal the effects of trauma on body, mind and relationships.
There is no one formula. There is no magic potion. There is however my commitment to provide creative solutions. Working together, we can spark the power of curiosity and hopefully create the relationships you desire.
