Wendy Henriks is Rainbow Care's principal psychologist. She sees children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She also works with adults. First registered in 2006, Wendy has experience with a wide variety of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, parenting, grief and loss, social skills, anger, intellectual and learning disabilities, self esteem, trauma, bullying, abuse, relationship/marriage issues, ASD, ADHD, OCD and more. She provides caring, quality and personally tailored service to meet yours and/or your child's treatment goals.
Wendy is a client centred therapist who utilises evidenced based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, structured and unstructured Play Therapy, Gottman Couples therapy, as well as Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment therapeutic approaches. Wendy also has experience using Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy.
Wendy aims to make child sessions friendly and fun and tries to incorporate a systems approach by working with your child's school, family and other professionals when necessary and with your consent.
Wendy is registered with Medicare Australia. There is a gap cost. You can obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) through your local GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist before attending your first appointment. She can see self and plan managed NDIS clients.
Alternatively, you may wish to claim a rebate through your private health insurance.
As well as counselling, Wendy can perform Cognitive assessments including the WISC. She is also able to conduct behavioural observations and perform Autism assessments. Please enquire within for more information about assessments and fees.
