Alison Hood has an honours degree in Social Work and has had many years working with children and families.
Alison has a broad range of experience working with children, teenagers and adults who have been living with emotional, social and/or behavioural issues. Often these have been caused by difficulties with anxiety, attachment, self-esteem, friendships, bullying, school, health, grief and loss, trauma, parental separation, domestic violence, crisis, as well as many forms of abuse. Crying, shouting, hitting and tantrums are some of the ways that children release their sadness, anger and frustration. Alison aims to help children to learn how to manage these feelings, as well as helping parents in their relationships with their children.
Fostering good relationships helps us to feel connected and valued and also improves our feelings of satisfaction and happiness. Sometimes we need help to get the most out of our relationships and our lives.
Alison aims to help people to understand themselves better and for them to learn skills that will enable the building of stronger relationships with others.
Relationship counselling helps families to be able to communicate with each other by enabling each person to express themselves. Couples can also benefit from relationship counselling.
Alison follows the Code of Ethics for Social Workers which has strict guidelines around such things as confidentiality and clients can be assured that they will be treated without judgement and with the utmost respect at all times.
