present with pain problems-acute and chronic of neurosmusculoskeletal origin, and involves a range of assessments as well as manual medicine, psychosocial,
clinical, prescribing and referral skills.
Musculoskeletal Medicine is not sports medicine although
sporting injuries can be greatly helped by the application of
musculoskeletal medicine. Musculoskeletal Medicine treats
all people from preadolescent children with �growing pains� to elderly women with osteoporosis, Workers Compensation, Injuries and pain problems of pregnancy.
Treatment methods employed are education, information,
sharing, cognitive-behavioural therapy, exercise prescription, trigger point injections, spray and stretch techniques, post isometric relaxation techniques, muscle energy techniques, mobilisation, traction and mobilisation with impulse.
