About
I was born in Melbourne, at the then Mercy Private Hospital. I studied medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1983. After 2 years at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, I did most of my specialist training at the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne, from 1986 to 1989. I was awarded my Fellowship in the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1991.
From 1992-1999 I was full-time senior lecturer in the University of Melbourne Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mercy Hospital for Women. In 2000, I returned to the Royal Women's Hospital as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and was head of the Diabetes unit there from 2003-2008 and Director of Birth Suites from 2006-2008.
I practice general obstetrics and gynaecology, with a special interest in diabetes and medical conditions in pregnancy such as thyroid disease, and Jewish women's health
Unlike many other obstetricians, I do not participate in any regular weekend roster, and so am nearly always available. Therefore, if you are my patient, you can be more than 90% confident that I will be the one looking after you in labour.
