Extending over 36 hectares right next to the CBD, the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne is one of the city's most popular attractions and prides itself on being one of the world's outstanding botanic gardens.

Once a horse track for the local gentry, the ‘Tan’, as Melburnians affectionately love to call it, is the 3.8km running track around the perimeter of the Botanic Gardens frequented by professional athletes, AFL footballers, fitness fanatics and those guilty of overindulgence trying to make amends. Start from Alexandra Avenue near the Swan St Bridge and huff and puff your way around.
