What is Shi-atsu?
Shiatsu literally means finger pressure in Japanese or acupressure in Chinese. Shiatsu is an ancient massage therapy based on the Traditional Chinese medicine theories where your therapist applies finger and palm pressure along the energy channels or meridian lines on your body to increase the flow of energy and blood circulation. Your health is reliant upon the smooth flow of chi through the meridians and internal organs. Chi is your life-force, it keeps you warm and nourished.
Shiatsu can be applied to your body with firm or gentle pressure. When the Shiatsu techniques are applied correctly by your qualified shiatsu practitioner, it should not cause any pain or bruising. You will feel calm and relaxed after the treatment. Any pain or discomfort you may have before the session is usually reduced and there is a feeling of physical lightness and wellbeing.

What happen during the treatment?

Shiatsu is performed fully clothed on a comfortable Japanese futon. The session may also include limb stretches and gentle rotation of limb joints.
