No Mind Yoga
No Mind Yoga finds its basis in Ashtanga where emphasis is placed on the synchronisation of breath and movement, the methodical series of postures, bandhas (pelvic floor & lower abdominal locks), and drishti (fixed gaze). Together these create a system that makes the body light, fluid and strong while the mind becomes calm and meditative. In particular I focus on finding the space between thoughts and finding one?s own way into postures.
Ashtanga Class
In the Ashtanga class I go progressively, step by step through postures of the Primary Series (the sequence of postures practiced most in Ashtanga). Alignment, technique, anatomical context and corrections are explained in a flowing style. While some poses may seem difficult at first, they are suitable for all levels with modifications for those newer to Yoga. What you will notice from regular and steadfast practice is that it not only makes the body very strong and flexible, but also is very therapeutic in creating and maintaining the healthy function in all parts of the body. The body frees and the mind follows.
Location
Classes are held at ?The Dojo? ? a factory that has been converted in a traditional/modern Japanese style with a unique ambient setting. Martial Arts and Fitness classes are also held here.
The Instructor
Over the years I?ve had a deep interest in Eastern philosophy and natural health. This led me to learning Martial Arts, to an instructors level, and then in more recent years studying Yoga in different forms (particularly Ashtanga). Yogic philosophies and practices now form the major part of my life. I have been fortunate to learn from teachers in India, Thailand and Australia and most of all the practice has taught me that the greatest lessons come through one?s Self. I am passionate to share with you the self-healing potential of the body and the mind's ability to become still through Yoga.
