ABOUT ME
I studied Woodwind Instrument Making and Repairing at Newark Technical College, Nottinghamshire, England from 1983-86.
1987/88 I worked part-time for Wood,Wind and Reed in Cambridge and Howarths in London and researched flutes and flute-making.
1989 I returned to Basle, Switzerland and set up my own workshop specialising in making baroque and classical flutes. I was very fortunate to work in collaboration with the curator of the Musical Instrument Collection, Basle where I was allowed to measure the flute by Jeremias Schlegel in the collection.
I also worked in close association with the teachers and students of baroque flute at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (University of Early Music). This association culminated in the purchase of two flutes by the SCB for the use of their advanced students in 1995.
1998 I moved to Buccarumbi near Grafton, NSW and continued to make and restore baroque flutes.
As there isn't a big demand for baroque flutes locally the repairing aspect of my training came to the forefront as most my work since moving to Australia 17 years ago is repairing band instruments, mainly flutes, clarinets and saxophones.
REPAIRS:
I don't have a shopfront in town, my repair customers contact me and I collect the instrument in town and return it to the same location when it is repaired. Normal turnaround time is approximately one week. I offer a loan instrument while yours is in repair (for flutes, Eb clarinets, alto saxes)
SECOND-HAND INSTRUMENTS
A selection of fully serviced second-hand instruments is for sale at Buckley's Music Grafton. They are sold with one year warranty.
