Bridges Reconnect provides support to young people aged 12-18 and their families who reside in or attend school in the local areas of Annerley, Boronia Heights, Browns Plains, Coorparoo, Crestmead, Dutton Park, Eagleby, East Brisbane, Hillcrest, Fairfield, Greenslopes, Highgate Hill, Kangaroo Point, Kingston, Loganholme, Loganlea, Marsden, Park Ridge, Regents Park, Slacks Creek, South Brisbane, West End, Woodridge, Woolloongabba and Yeronga.
We provide free confidential support to young people & their families to:-
> Help young people work things out with their parents/family
> Help young people stay at home until they have the skills to become independent
> Help stay in school when things get tough or support with either mainstream or alternative education
> Link in with employment/training options
> Connect with homeless shelters or accomodation services
> Assist young people to re-enter the community if they have become homeless
> Assist young people to re-engage with their families/community through conselling, mediation & general support
> Assist young people to better deal with conflict in the home
> Connect with programs that address issues such as low self-esteen, relationship building and conflict resolution
We can support parents and families to:-
> Work things out with their young people
> Communicate better with their young people
> Mediate conflict issues in the family home and with their young people
> Set family goals & limits
> Learn new strategies for coping with conflict in the home
> Learn to live apart but stay connected to their young people
The team is flexible - able to come to the young person while they are at school, within the family home or meet at another agreed local place.
Young people can call us themselves or may be referred by school staff, other youth agencies or government departments.
Families may also contact us to seek information or assistance.
