Mental Health Day Respite & Support.Recovery focused psychosocial rehab/ recovery/respite.
Sort to medium term supported accommodation for adults living with mental illness- Peer operated service.
We run solely by volunteers- offer training- offer support to find long term accommodation- access other services, we attend tribunals, court support, and offer advocacy and support.
We train volunteers, we have students who are studying Mental Health- many of us are MH workers- are qualified support workers etc.
We help people to reclaim their life- the life they wish to achieve-to their individual potential.-regain trust and hope- take a place in their community and feel worthwhile.
Financial cost is very little- outcomes and achievements immeasurable really- only that people become independant- some will become iless dependant on others.
We know we save lives- we educate services and community--
Our short term goal is to get another house- ASAP, as we have a wait list-- we need houses and we need to encourage others to volunteer.
Currently we rent- and sub lease to our residents- we would like a home-to offer very short- transition from hospital to home/respite- to people to prevent relapse and or re entry to Mental Health unit, and not have to charge for rent- only for food and maintainance- until they can return home-the burden on people to keep paying rent on a house, flat unit etc whilst needing short term respite care is huge and adds to the financial burden, the stress and depression--
We provide wonderful care- without charge- saving community and Governments millions of dollars a year.
All we want is a clean decent dwelling or two.
We have strict guidelines and rules- to protect the people with illness, protect the workers and protect home owners etc.
People learn to respect themselves and respect others and what belongs to selves and others- we help people find their way from long term illness long hospital stays to recovery and less relapses, if any
