PROFILE FOR DR. TIM FORSTER
Dr. Tim Forster was educated in Queensland at the Church of England Grammar School (Churchie) and the University of Queensland obtaining his post-graduate fellowships in 1980.
Dr. Forster practices as an independent Ophthalmologist with his central consulting rooms at the Wesley Medical Centre and branch practices at Oxley and Wynnum.
Dr. Forster believes in providing expert eye care (equal to the best in the world) based on many years of experience and delivered in a personal, compassionate, convenient, cost effective manner utilising the latest state of the art equipment resulting in quality ophthalmic care.
While he practices as a comprehensive adult Ophthalmologist, Dr. Forster has special interests in the treatment of the ageing eye, particularly cataracts and glaucoma and also regularly sees patients with macular degeneration and retinal vascular disease such as diabetic retinopathy. The operations he commonly performs are cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, pterygium excision with auto-conjunctival transplant, glaucoma surgery and minor lid surgery.
Dr. Forster has vast experience and a special interest in the treatment of cataracts and has sophisticated equipment for measuring patients pre-operatively to assess the power and type of intraocular lens to be implanted. As well as the standard mono-focal intraocular lenses he is now implanting a large number of toric intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism and for selected patients, a tri-focal intraocular lens for those patients who wish to be spectacle independent.
Dr. Forster is happy to perform refractive lens exchange for those patients with refractive errors who wish to be less dependent on spectacles or spectacle independent and, as with cataract surgery, implants mono-focal, toric and tri-focal intraocular lens for appropriate patients.
