Peter Starr was introduced to the insane world of photography while travelling through Europe in 1985,I saw a photographer taking photographs of a model outside a restaurant in Paris. I was totally blown away, and new from that point onwards that that was what I wanted to do for a living. When I returned to Australia six months later I purchased my first camera, I learnt to photograph using traditional film cameras, learning how to read light and discover how light reacts to film. I ended up working as an assistant to a studio photographer , and was introduced to the world of fashion photography. I spent about a year working as an assistant before stepping out on my own. I love the whole process of taking photographs, from when an idea first comes into my head , the planing, working with designers, stylists, other creative talents, to the final post editing stage. The whole process is totally addictive to me. My mind is always thinking of the next project. I started Living Pixels in 1995, Living Pixels is not simply about taking photographs, for me its about creating images that tell a story, make your mind think about what is the image really saying. My work has been published in Vogue (Australia & Italy), Cosmopolitan (Australia & Czech), Swimsuit Illustrated, Cleo (Australia),and many other publications. Over the years I have developed my own creative style, not following others, rather walking down my own road, my work has been described as raw, intoxicating and in your face, I like to push the boundries, and create images that get people talking. Hope you all like my work as much as I enjoyed creating it. .
