Husband, Dad, caffeine addict, gardener and photographer. I was born in Sydney during the 70's, I grew up on the Northern Beaches and moved to Melbourne in 2003.
Family, chocolate, music and laughter are all very important to me. And taking photos, of course.
My Dad was an award winning sports photographer shooting Rugby League and Cricket for ACP Magazines in Sydney. My start came through him during the nineties, he would let me shoot a roll of film on the reserve grade games using the big long lenses and before there was any such thing as auto focus, let alone being able to check your shot on the back of the camera! I worked as an editorial assistant at ACP, looking after the photo library and helping the journos with whatever they needed. I learnt a great deal at ACP, more than I appreciated at the time. I was able to get valuable experience working inside a magazine dealing with the photographic studio and processing lab.
Before I became a Professional Wedding Photographer, I worked as a freelance photographer with a few music magazines and online gig review websites. I shot live gigs around Melbourne from the Corner and Festival Hall to the festivals like the big day out and future music. I've got some great memories from these gigs and the learning was enormous. Most times, you had just the first three songs without flash to get everything. You've got lights going off all over the place and you might be lucky to get 10 to 15 usable shots. Now that I've got that experience, shooting those reception venues in low light is a breeze.
