A/Prof Mark Walterfang is a general adult psychiatrist and neuropsychiatrist who has recently expanded his practice at the Melbourne Clinic Consulting Suites.
A/Prof Walterfang graduated in medicine in Queensland in 1993, and has been a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists since 2001. He has been a staff specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital since that time, and completed his PhD studies in the biology of schizophrenia, for which he won both the University of Melbourne Chancellor's Prize and the Dean of Medicine's Prize.
A/Prof Walterfang sees general adult psychiatry patients, with a particular interest in mood and anxiety disorders, combining psychotherapeutic and pharmacological approaches in management. He also has specialist expertise in managing psychiatric aspects of neurological disorders and dementias, in which he has considerable experience in public and private settings. He is happy to provide second opinions to other clinicians on complex cases or presentations in which an organic disorder is suspected.
A/Prof Walterfang has admitting rights to the Melbourne Clinic, and also is an accredited visiting specialist to the Epworth and Cabrini hospital groups.
