The building itself is Cairns 2nd oldest and was originally the Bank of North Queensland in 1890. The central hotel finished construction in 1909 and now stands as a pinnacle land mark in the centre of town. With its famous dome resting on top of the roof splitting the corner of Lake and Spence street, the building is full of historic architect and an elegant Queenslander which can be admired by all. The Heritage refit started in October 2007 and took 11 months to complete costing $2 million. The venue itself has now been split into 4 areas:
Enjoy the beautiful 2 sided balcony with terrace bar by day and night, it is a marvel in itself, staying with the heritage feel it is made completely out of rainforest woods and the finishes focus on texture, warmth and depth. The graphics in the main bar are edgy, chic and allow for the balance of history to be linked with music to bring the two areas together making for the most amazing atmosphere all the time.
The Club room offers a different experience again while keeping with the character throughout. With 2 huge 80 year old stain glass windows which are set in the club room bar header, 3 man DJ booth and quirky fabrics it is a place to dance or chill in many of the open backed booths.
Our brand new kitchen allows you to talk to the chefs as you order and watch them cook and you cannot go wrong with the famous $10 lunches served from 12 midday, 7 days a week. You have to try the all day and night $10 Heritage special 300 gram grain fed steak, served with beer battered onion rings, grilled tomatoes and massive fried mushrooms, it’s an absolute classic and so tasty.
The History Room caters for all functions and is great to hold your special occasions while having full access to the whole venue as well. Oh and it’s free to hire... yes free!
The Heritage is full of emotion and history so pop in for lunch served from 12pm till 9pm, 7 days a week or party at night to the wicked DJs and live bands.
