Murmur Bar is secreted away from the main streets of Melbourne in Warburton Lane. Occupying a heritage listed building, this venue used to host a coffee import warehouse over a hundred years ago. Evidence of this previous incarnation exists with the original crane and trapdoor still in place. As a bar, this cosy establishment serves a range of local and imported beers on tap along with wines and cocktails.
Find the dark laneway strewn with bins, look for the little lit-up sign on your left and climb the stairs to this little haven away from the corporate rat race. Rustic, old world charm with Chesterfield lounges, chandeliers, ornate mirrors and wooden floors create the kind of ambience that is convivial to meaningful conversation and extensive cocktail exploration. Just a little murmur, no fanfare but worth finding.
