It's the food that Malaysian-born Jackie M grew up with and loves with a passion...robust spices combined with delicate flavours...slow-cooking and crisp stir-frying...zesty chilli heat and subtle exotic blends.
"I learnt my cooking skills from my mother - she's a great and inspiring cook", Jackie explains. "I was by her side from the age of six, learning how to chop and dice, picking up her techniques."
The street food offered by local hawkers in her hometown of Seremban, south of Kuala Lumpur, impressed young Jackie with their strong and distinctive flavours. However, when the family moved to Australia, those dishes were almost impossible to find.
"I found I had to learn to make those meals I loved."
"I try to be true to original recipes. I go back to Malaysia often and I've even tried to persuade street cooks to part with their secrets! That way, both my fresh menu and frozen food range is constantly evolving."
