The Building
Built in 1900, the building served as the Summer Hill Post Office until 1996. After years in private ownership this iconic building is now open to the public as One Penny Red.
The interior of One Penny Red is elegant, comfortable and warm. The design holds a hint of classic, a tribute to the buildingâ??s heritage, while being modern and welcoming.
The downstairs dining room was originally the post office and large big bay windows give the room a light, airy feel. The Verandah is best enjoyed for a relaxed brunch or an early dinner.
Upstairs was where the mail sorting was done. The hoist above the upstairs bar is an original feature and reminder of the buildingâ??s work history.
