Toko Restaurant and Bar in Surry Hills offers patrons a unique dining and drinking experience. The cocktail lounge serves sakes and cocktails that have been inspired from Japan. With a restaurant on site, you can combine pre- or post-dinner drinks with a meal; the cuisine draws upon influences from the land of the rising sun. Meanwhile, the decor is stunning, with the magnificent, glowing lighting sculpture taking centre stage along with the bar, which is an accomplishment in the woodwork art of joinery.
We take bookings for lunch only. For dinner we suggest you arrive early and enjoy a drink at the bar.
Sake is what it?s all about at Toko. The food combo is Japanese with an Aussie twist but the experience starts at the bar. Mixologists whisk up exotic fruity-flavoured cocktails with a traditional sake base in a whir of activity ? perfect with a pre-dinner snack of sea-salted edamame (steamed soy beans). Seafood delights are too many to list but the ika no kari kari age alias crispy squid with green chilli and lime will seal the deal on a repeat dinner reservation. That?s before you discover the crispy soft-shell crab with wasabi mayonnaise and then there?s the rainbow of sashimi served up on ice ? ocean trout, tuna, king fish, snapper, eel, mackerel... The no-booking, get- here early or you?re out on your ear policy is slightly annoying but that?s just how it shakes on Crown.
