Asian spices mix with the flavours of the Mediterranean at Chris Jarmer's breezy city bistro. It's a broad and unusual menu that features light favourites such as Jarmer's signature Thai beef salad and a roasted pumpkin and fetta tart. There is a daily soup special and for lunch or a snack, two varieties of lepinja bread: one a chicken Caesar variation, the other with char-grilled vegetables. If the Japanese-inspired scallops are on the specials board, order them and expect plump, tasty shellfish served with udon noodles, wasabi and seaweed. For bigger appetites, try the fish of the day or the popular fillet of beef, served with lemon-roasted potatoes, garlic green beans and pesto butter. There is plenty of natural light, comfortable chairs, quality glassware and white linen. The service is prompt and the wine list adequate.
