Set in one of Melbourne's finest restaurant districts on the tree lined boulevard of Rathdowne Street is the New Paragon which has been established for more than twenty five years. This Victorian double story building has been renovated with a commercial kitchen that's the envy of many chefs. The restaurant includes a large bar and barista station that efficiently delivers great coffee, wine, beer on tap and much much more. The New York style decor provides customers with a subtle relaxing atmosphere where they can enjoy the diverse European menu that features Chef Leandro Panzas house made pastas and many other enjoyable dishes.
The two outdoor areas with separate identities, Newry Street being a great spot for sun lovers and Rathdowne Street which is heated ensuring diners are nice and comfortable when the weather chills up both support Melbournians penchant for street dining and drinking.
Leandro started cooking when he was thirteen with his Sicilian mother and went onto becoming an apprentice chef which he completed at Caf? e Cucina on Chapel Street. He jetted off to London and worked along side celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli. When back in Melbourne he opened up the Trust in Melbourne CBD and next he was head chef at Estivo in Kew and then set sails again over to Singapore to run La Strada Ristorante. The next career challenge before him was opening up Hugos, situated in both Manly and Kings Cross in Sydney where he was the executive chef. He has a passion for cooking, and here at Paragon he dishes up modern Italian classic recipes with his own personal twist.
Paragon is open Tuesday to Sunday serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a style that tantalizes and satisfies its customers.
