New Owners of the Golden Square Hotel Bendigo, Peter and Jacqui Griffin, are pleased to announce a coveted Golden Plate Award has been won by Chef Brunno Rocha Melo. The sister hotel, as part of the Tombstone Hotel Group, the Railway Hotel in Castlemaine, has won Golden Plate Awards two years running. The latest Award was in the Value for Money category after being nominated in five categories.
The new menu and Chef Brunno are only part of the improvements made to the Golden Square Hotel Bendigo since the new owners took over in July last year. "We saw lots of potential with this hotel, and with our experience in running Hotels as part of the Tombstone Hotel group, we were pleased to get the opportunity to bring some unique aspects to the venue," Mr. Griffin said.
Some of the key changes include specialised offerings of craft beers and ciders on tap, a wide range of wines and spirits and a new menu inspired by award winning Chef Brunno. "We have also completed a full rebrand with the logo and signage that better reflects the history of this historic pub that dates back to the 1800's," Mr Griffin said. Other improvements include repainting and decorating, the addition of Fox Footy for live AFL coverage, a dedicated function room and upgrade of the Sports Bar and TAB facility. The Beer Garden and Lounge area have also been revamped.
Mr Griffin said, "We are pleased to be supporting local sport and were sponsors of the inaugural Craft Beer Festival. We are also developing quite a following on Facebook with our recent promotions." Mr. Griffin was keen to introduce Chef Brunno, as his background and style of cooking is quite unique to the Bendigo area.
