I am an experienced music teacher who has taught students at all levels of proficiency, from complete beginners through to advanced, and across a wide range of styles including mainstream rock and pop, alternative rock, indie pop, blues and folk.
I have been involved in the music business for over 30 years. During this time I have played in many professional bands, writing, recording and performing mostly original compositions, and have received airplay on commercial radio.
I teach mainstream rock and pop, alternative rock, indie pop, blues and folk. Some of my influences include REM, Radiohead, The Pixies, TV On The Radio, U2, Midlake, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Paul Weller, The Jam, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Byrds, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, 1960s Motown and soul music. While my teaching is not limited to these artists and styles, what I hope it does show is that I most like great guitar playing within the context of great songs rather than great guitar for its own sake.
I can also help you develop your songwriting skills, record a simple demo or a professional production, and mix and master your music for any output format.
My recording studio is designed for musicians and songwriters who want to record using virtual instruments combined with actual guitar, bass and vocal tracks as opposed to a full-blown band recording.
Cakewalk Sonar X3 is the heart of the studio and features unlimited audio, MIDI, and instrument tracks as well as Pro Channel models and Melodyne Editor pitch correction. There is a very extensive range of amplifier simulations and effects. Amplitube 3 and Amplitube Fender provide a huge range of options for getting the perfect guitar sound. Effects include a full range of high quality reverbs, digital delays, vintage tape echoes, equalisers, compressors, limiters, de-essers, vocal processors and more.
