A/Prof. James van Gelder is the director of Neurosurgery at Concord Hospital and a senior consultant at Liverpool Hospital. He operates privately at the Sydney Adventist and Sydney Southwest Private Hospital. He is a Conjoint Associate Professor at the UNSW and a teaching faculty member for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. A/Prof. van Gelder studied medicine at Melbourne University and completed his neurosurgical fellowship in Sydney. He has a Medical Doctorate in Physiology, a graduate diploma in Clinical Epidemiology and a Masters in Medical Statistics. His current academic interests are in critical appraisal, evidence-based medicine and biomedical engineering.
