Dr David Shooter is a private orthopaedic surgeon who has over 11 years’ experience in both public and private Orthopaedic surgery. Dr Shooter’s medical training was undertaken across various tertiary hospitals in Queensland and in the UK. During his time in public practice Dr Shooter held various senior positions, such as Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital. He was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2010. Dr Shooter currently holds an academic role as senior lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Queensland.
In 2012, Dr Shooter started in private practice as a generalist orthopaedic surgeon and now has a focus and specialty in arthroplasty, trauma, and sports knee, with a subspecialty in orthopaedic oncology.

Dr Shooter currently accepts all private referrals; and as part of his dedication to the local community also accepts WorkCover, DVA patients, and currently consults to the Australian Defence Force.
The practice policy on surgical billing is those patients insured with Bupa, HCF, Medibank Private or the AHSA group (eg TUH, Navy, CUA, Credicare etc) will almost always be billed using No Gap or Known Gap schedules. Those with other funds with be billed privately. DVA, WCQ and ADF patients do not receive a bill under the appropriate government schemes.
