Dr. Andrew Bell attended St. Ives High School in Sydney, NSW before enrolling in Medicine at the University of New South Wales with clinical attachments to the St. George Hospital, Kogarah NSW. Graduated Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours in 1979.
General Surgical Training undertaken 1983-1986 at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Woolloongabba Qld culminating in award (by examination) of the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1987.
Colorectal Surgical training undertaken overseas, initially in Nottingham, England in 1987 when Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England was achieved, by examination.
Subsequent two years of Colorectal Surgical training at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota in 1988 and 1989. Elected to Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons.
Has been in private practice in Brisbane since 1990 with hospital appointments to Mater Public and Mater Private Hospitals, South Brisbane. During this time he has served on numerous professional committees and associations at state and national level, including as a Director of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, on the State Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and as a Director of John Paul College Ltd.
Andrew is married with seven children.
