The baggy black, as the Gypsies are often known, hail from Chatswood in the heart of Sydney's North Shore and field cricket teams in the local Saturday afternoon NSCA competitions. A youthful club, tracing its roots back to 2007, the Gypsies take a decidedly fresh approach to cricket. Most members are Generation Y, with a few older wiser heads for good measure. No matter your background though, we would love to have you on board, all are welcome.
The Gypsies embrace the greatest facets of community cricket and are renowned for their camaraderie in the face of adversity. Chatswood's finest also sport a keen sense of humour and fondness for banter, be it on the club's Twitter Feed, Facebook Group, YouTube Channel or as the Welcome To Gypsies Country bowlers charge in come match day. The Gypsies play hard, fair and fun-spirited cricket. They never forget to send their club song echoing across the fields of play after a sterling victory. The WAGS+FAF (Wives & Girlfriends + Friends & Family) match and DD Treat Medal (think Allan Border Medal but better) year-in year-out prove marquee events on the GCC calendar. A not-for-profit club, the Gypsies return all proceeds to members, be it via the latest cricketing equipment, merchandise or a night to remember come season's end.
