Mulga Sanctuary has been a privately owned Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary for several decades. Phillip Lawton, with his father Ted, have begun revamping the park and in early 2010 opened the gates to the general public for the first time.
Set on 160 acres of virgin terrain, Mulga Sanctuary boasts the most diverse selection of waterfowl in the region. Come wander through the enclosed bird aviary which houses many species of parrots, pheasant, owls, cockatiels and a magnificent Wedge Tailed Eagle. Sit by the pond and be welcomed by the many breeds of ducks and Cape Barron Geese.
Book ahead for the Nocturnal Tour and be amused by the antics of the white possums and wombats, see the mighty Red Kangaroos and Emu, and in the warmer months, be brave enough to become a snake handler. Take time for a cuppa and a chat under the million star canopy and listen to the hoots of the Owls and the squawking of the many species of wild birds that live in the surrrounding bushland.
Phillip and Ted will share with you an abundance of knowledge gathered over their many decades of caring for and loving each and every animal that has passed through their Park.
Come and visit Mulga Sanctuary and Wildlife Park and share the experience, pack a picnic or book ahead for the use of the BBQ. Allow yourself at least 1 - 11/2 hours to wander at leisure. Coffee, tea and cold drinks are available at the kiosk.
