The Australian Literacy Clinic is a specialist literacy centre, devoted to improving the reading rates of children with learning difficulties. The Australian Literacy Clinic conducts reading clinics in both the Newcastle and Maitland areas, working with a range of Health and Educational Professionals to assist children with various learning difficulties such as children with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Phonological Awareness issues, speech related issues, Irlen Sensitivity and with children who have general reading difficulties . Our Clinics conduct research, assessment & planning for children with literacy difficulties. The Australian Literacy Clinic receives referrals from Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Paediatricians, Occupational Therapists, Schools and Parents. Current research into the Clinic's literacy program has shown significant and long term results for all children. Our dedicated staff are devoted to assisting children with reading difficulties through research based practices and follow national standard testing and reporting. In addition our staff assist families with ongoing care in referrals to other health professionals, counselling and school liaison.
As part of the Australian Literacy Clinic's dedication to improving the reading rates of children, we have responded to the needs of schools and families and have developed an online resource area that allows families and schools unlimited access to specialist designed and tested reading resources. Resources can be used by all children, allowing schools and families access to outstanding resources that will increase the reading results of children.
