16th of March 2012, the Registry office steps. A steady drizzle falling all around. A handful of rain stained Chinese tourists are taking happy snaps. My wife and I alone on the steps with our chattering wedding photographer.
It felt as if we were eloping except for my two beaming parents who snuck in as our witnesses.
Glory days and beautiful memories that I will always carry with me. I look back now with the benefit of hindsight and wonder would I change anything? Perhaps.
Since that day I have become aware of the ceremony and what it means to society and how it marks our passage through our lives. So looking back, the one thing I would do would be to hire a celebrant to mark our place in history.
Birth, birthdays, marriage and death. These are the days we reflect on. What we were doing, thinking and where we were. A wedding gathers all our thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams and places them in one room and asks us to celebrate that day, to stake a place in history.
I understand that importance, the importance of the ceremony, of how it binds people together through its gravitas, humour and celebration.
I love creating ceremony and occasion. Let me create one for you.
