The Plumbing & Electrical doctor

I am not a plumber, so when I have a water problem I ring a plumber to give me a quote to fix my plumbing problem. I trust that this plumber’s integrity is honest in the work that he has been asked to do. Unfortunately, that has not been the case with the Plumbing & Electrical Doctor.

On 23/12/20 a plumber from the Plumbing & Electrical Doctor arrived at my home to requote a job previously quoted by a plumber that had left their employment. He was alone when he entered my property and did not correctly diagnose the problem of water pooling in an area under the house. He never entered the area but instead walked around the perimeter of the house. His conclusion was to instal 14m AG pipe 400 deep at the front of the property behind a concrete retaining wall 600 deep and over to a downpipe. This included a pit, sealing the edge of the house and path costing $2,865.

On 30/12/20 three employees arrived and talked out the front before entering the property. I went out to talk to them when the plumber that did the quote told me he was telling the boys what work they needed to do. This plumber then left and the other two employees attended to the job as quoted. One was a licenced plumber, the other an apprentice.

After the completion of the job which included hosing the dirt off the path down the storm water drain, I went to check for pooling of water. The pool was once again evident. I rang my daughter to come and diagnose this problem. She arrived and tracked the water from the pool to a leaking storm water drain.

I rang the company to complain and on 6/1/21 the licensed plumber who had completed the work arrived to inspect the problem. During our discussion (which has been taped) he told us that the plumber who quoted the job was not licenced, that this plumber had agreed with him prior to doing the job that this work will NOT fix the problem adding; but hey what else are we going to do, they’re selling the house anyway.

This company is dishonest and knowingly working outside the legislation. This plumber is working independently while unlicensed and quoted unnecessary work to the cost of $2,865 which is theft. The original quote was also never correctly diagnosed with a price tag of up to $4,500. This work was never finished and the yard was not put back to an acceptable standard.

On 8/1/21 a plumber returned and sealed around the storm water drain at the front door which has now fixed the problem.

A previous quote was also received from them stating that we needed to replace all the guttering at a cost of $4,500. We chose at that time to not go ahead with this work. Since this company has intentionally quoted unnecessary work I had people come over and inspect my gutters. Both said our gutters did not need replacing.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!

Job was to fix our ducted exhaust fan - waited a week for a service guy to turn up - he had NO EXPERIENCE with ducted exhaust fans - ended up with an invoice for $50 (that we had to pay on the spot) which included a note “attended site, couldn’t find fan for ducted unit”. The service guy was very apologetic but said his boss told him he had to charge us even though he had no idea how to fix it. We said in the booking that the problem was a ducted exhaust fan - so why send someone who has no experience and then charge us a callout fee? BUYER BEWARE!

Charged $750 to move my water meter and couldn't even put a proper elbow in the pipe - It was just bent willy nilly. Was apparent the young guy had no idea because he had to ring his boss 3 times and didn't even have the proper tools. Again if I could I could give less than 1 star I would

We had a blocked sewer pipe so my wife called the Plumbing Doctor to get it fixed. The plumber spent couple hours “trying” to unblock it, charged us $749 for his time and told my wife he can't fix it so he'll have to come back again to fix it and it will cost at least $6,500 to fix it. He also sked for $1,000 deposit, and convinced her to join their club, pay $199 so we can get a discount on our quote (ha,ha).



I was very shocked he charged us $749 without fixing the blocked pipe and couldn’t even give us a definite quote so I contacted couple other plumbers. The lowest quote we got from other plumbers was a fixed $4,500 to completely fix the problem so we booked the other plumber.



I called Plumbing Doctor to cancel their booking and was immediately offered a fixed $4,500 quote by them to match cheaper quote. I refused Plumbing Doctor's offer because I didn’t want to deal with them anymore since they wanted to charge us at least $2,000 more than other plumbers in the first place so I asked for our deposit back and was told the deposit will come within 3 days.



However it took over a month of calling them every few days to get our deposit back. Every time I called them I was either told the cheque is on the way or the manager will call me back; however, the manager never called me back and it took weeks of calling them to finally get our money back. We are extremely disappointing with their workmanship and service. I will NEVER deal with them AGAIN.

My shower sink was blocked, I called them and the plumber showed up within the hour. After a survey under the house the plumber discovered a blockage in the pipework to the sewer. He resolved the blockage this morning and thankfully no standing water in my shower anymore, thanks plumbing doctor!
