      We are passionate about delivering high quality local seafood to our customers.

      Grunske's by the River specialises in wild caught local seafood , with on-site seafood processing, dealing direct with the public. Paul and Beryl Grunske have a deeply ingrained commercial fishing history of more than 40 years, having owned and operated prawn trawlers and fishing vessels for all of their fishing lives.

      They are proud supporters of the fishing industry and are passionate about sustainably caught, fresh, quality seafood products.

      Grunske’s by the River is located over East Bundaberg, directly over looking the Burnett River. We have plenty of off street parking and welcome caravanners with easy drive through access.

      Grunske’s by the River is a unique encounter for anyone looking for a fresh seafood experience. You will not find anything like us up the East Coast of Qld. Being one of only a handful of seafood processors left in Queensland that deal direct with the public, 100% of the local seafood is destined for your plate. We have a team of processors that work daily to shuck scallops, peel prawns, fillet fish and prepare seafood for our retail customers.

      Where is Grunske's by the River Seafood Market?

      Grunske’s by the River is located over East Bundaberg, at 11E Petersen Street, down past the TJM building, directly over looking the Burnett River.


      What are your trading hours?

      Monday - Friday, 7am - 5:30pm Saturday -7am - 5pm Sunday - 8am - 4pm.


      Do you accept American Express or Afterpay?

      No, Grunske's by the River accept, VISA, Mastercard and Cash.


      If I buy seafood from the market, can the restaurant cook it for me?

      No, Unfortunately this is not a service we provide, however there are a variety of options available on our Restaurant Menu for dine in or takeaway during restaurant trading hours.


      How do I make a Restaurant booking?

      Do you sell fish and chips from the Seafood Market?

      The Seafood Market only provides prepare and cook at home products. Hot seafood, fish and chips, meals, takeaway etc are available in the restaurant, when the restaurant is open and trading.


      If I buy cooked prawns from the Market, can I eat them on the restaurant deck?

      The tables on the restaurant deck are reserved as they tend to book out very quickly. Feel free to enjoy the River views from the sandstone terraced grass area or picnic tables to the side of the restaurant.


      When do you stay open?

      We are available to service from Wednesday to Sunday.

      Do you stock imported products?

      We prefer to source local, Queensland and Australian products wherever possible. However do occasionally stock some imported products where there is customer demand, and no Australian alternatives available. Imported product will ALWAYS be clearly marked.

      The dine-in side of Grunske's has a very nice outlook from the deck with views over the Bundaberg River which offers a beautiful cool breeze and I agree their prices are good but the downside is that the food is pretty average.

      The Take-away side is ridiculously overpriced! I bought two pieces of crumbed, wild caught Barramundi (which were cooked to death). The portion sizes were not the same as the ones on display and they were so small that if you joined the two pieces together, they would have made a small piece of fish... not impressed considering I was charged $18 just for the fish!

      Would I go again? Yes I would go there to eat in (with full expectations of an average meal) or for drinks on the deck because it offers such a pleasant outlook however I would never order takeaway from there again.

      Great food, massive servings. Definitely value for money. Nice undercover seating overlooking the river.
