Felix Reitano Real Estate, based in Ingham, Queensland, is one of the region’s longest-running family-owned agencies, serving the Hinchinbrook district since 1923. With generations of expertise, the firm offers comprehensive services in residential, commercial, and rural property sales and rentals. Their team also includes licensed auctioneers and property managers, and they uniquely operate a furniture division to assist clients with furnishing and removals after purchase.
The Felix Reitano family firm is one of the oldest family businesses operating in Ingham and this year the company celebrates 93 years of trade in the Hinchinbrook Shire.Felix Reitano the first originally arrived into Sydney from Italy and worked delivering fruit to the Governor’s House, where the Governor taught him English. But Mr Reitano eventually moved to the Herbert River district to buy a cane farm. He commenced business as a Commission Agent, Auctioneer & Barber in Halifax in a room at the Commercial Hotel in 1923.Because he was able to speak both English and Italian, Mr Reitano acted as an interpreter between both cultures.Felix raised his family of four sons and two daughters on a farmhouse between Halifax and Taylors Beach, which has since been renamed Reitano’s Road.He eventually moved the business to Ingham and commenced trading in the building where the Salvation Army Church is now located and then to another location in Herbert Street next door to the old Barra Motors.Felix’s son, Felix the second, moved its business to the current site at 109 Cartwright Street, Ingham in 1972 after repeated flooding on Herbert Street. In the 1980s Felix and his brother Bert, along with Felix’s son (Felix the third), commenced furniture display trips into Queensland’s Gulf Country, up to Cape York and to Thursday Island. In 1997, the Reitano’s were awoken early one morning to the shocking news that their store was on fire, gutting the entire building. The family set about rebuilding and now operate from a fully air conditioned office and showroom on the same site at 109 Cartwright Street.Today Felix the third is director of the business and a well-known man to talk about your Real Estate requirements whether it is residential, commercial or rural. He is a Licensed Real Estate Agent and has been a General Auctioneer since 1982.Felix the 4th (known as Peter) is ready to assist clients with their Real Estate needs in the town, beach and out of town homes. He is a Licensed Real Estate Agent & has been a General Auctioneer since 1995.Judy Reitano is the company’s Head Property Manager and spends many hours to ensure that property owners and tenants receive the best of service.Margaret Reitano is the other Director of the business and the Head of the Furniture Division of the business. After a house is sold, Margaret is ready to assist the clients in furnishing their houses and a discount on furniture is offered to clients who buy properties through the Felix Reitano Furniture and Real Estate business.Beside the family a number of staff are also on hand to assist the clients at Felix Reitano Furniture and Real Estate.Leanne Succio and Rayleen Russo are qualified Property Managers and assist Judy with Property Management duties.Gerry Scuderi is the company’s receptionist and furniture & bedding sales consultant.Nigel Newman is on hand to assist with new and second-hand furniture & bedding sales and conduct the removals, even delivering furniture. The Real Estate business is a member of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) and the office is an Accredited REIQ Agency.
