I was here a while back having a late night bite with a number of friends. 1 1 Dumpling Noodles you can order not only dumplings and noodles but lots of other interesting Xinjiang food, for those who are not familiar with where Xinjiang is, based far north-western corner of China. This dumpling place is a little unique in their menu compared to most other dumpling places, as they offer lamb dumpling. On this particular occasion didnt try anything out of the ordinary and opted for traditional pan fried pork, prawn dumplings and szechuan chicken with noodles. It was quite crowed with the late night diners, the place itself is nothing fancy in particular. It's rather cold inside, however at the end of the day most people are here for good food and service and thats exactly what we got. Definitely return again to try out a few other dishes on their menu and the lamp dumpling on next occasions.
My friends introduced me to 1+1 Dumplings as Xinjiang food (from north west China, a muslim province) is one of my favourite types of Chinese cuisine. Xinjiang food is characterised by cumin flavoured dishes which involve a fair bit of spice and chillies. We ordered the lamb dumplings and the hand pulled noodles. Both were super tasty! The lamb skewers here are a must ($2 each and minimum of 4) and were flavourful, char grilled and very tender. The atmosphere is unpretentious and casual and the service is super friendly, I even got to practice my mandarin! The owner is really keen on having a lovely chat about her food as she is from Xinjiang herself. Super passionate. Would definitely be coming back here.
I went here twice, the first time they didn't have any dumplings left, so I left. I tried a second time, they didn't have any dumplings left again! But this time I ate there, the food was average and a bit more pricey then the nearby store(s) that sell the same thing. The store is a lot cleaner then other stores, but nothing about the food stood out to me. I'd be happier to pay less, eat at a place that's a tad dirtier, but the food taste better.
