I've always taken taxis for many reasons and now find a short trip is almost impossible as drivers don't seem to want the fare. Some of the are downright rude about it too. The best thing is to get friendly with a driver and use him/her regularly if available. I'm quickly converting to Uber...after all, taxis can't complain about a free market if they simply refuse to compete!
