1989 Kitchen and Arcade
Sydney's first Arcade Bar & Cafe!
1989 Bar - Arcade - Kitchen is a classic video game arcade that operates as a cafe by day and bar at night. With 13 arcade classics on the floor, from Space Invaders to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, '89 is a retro gaming utopia and fantastic place to eat & drink.
We are serious about our craft beer and support the local inner west brewing scene with Batch Brewery, Wayward, Grifter, Young Henry's and many more represented either on tap or in our tinnie fridge. Overall we have 23 craft beers on our booze menu.
Wine is more your thing? No worries, we have an eclectic wine list including a very tasty Prosecco and our classic cocktails include a killer Espresso Martini made from fresh coffee. Cider and spirits are also in the house!
Our kitchen serves up delicious meals from 7am till 4pm before closing for an hour and reopening at 5pm till 10pm. Our burgers are (honestly) awesome and we have plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes available. Dine in or take away.
Our coffee is brewed using beans from Sydney's inner west boutique roaster The Little Marionette. We use Blend 7 Sanchez for a delicously rich & strong cup of Joe.
Our atmosphere is always welcoming & laid back whilst our aesthetic is unapologetically geek chic (our feature wall is made up of 500 real VHS cassette cases).

Funky cafe/arcade that takes you back to your childhood. A really fun concept with a decent range of classic arcade games to play - mostly paid but also a couple free options. Food-wise, I'll need to come back to try a proper meal as I only ordered the mocha milkshake and chicken sandwich for a light snack - both were alright though the chicken sandwich was missing the avo and cheese that was described in the menu. The other meals that were being served looked great. Great place for a chilled night out with mates.
