As far as I understood, the rather exorbitant quote From Tyson China Repairs for repairs to my lamp base (he definitely saw me coming!) included the provision of a shade. When I collected it today, there was no shade. When I asked about it I was informed that it wasn't written on the ticket and therefore wasn't included in the quote. I was told I should have read the ticket properly, (rather than trusting in the integrity of the store owner?), and that there had been a miscommunication. There wasn't on my part. The fact is that the ticket was handwritten and virtually illegible. I left extremely disappointed. If you use the services of this store, be careful to have the price and what it includes in legible writing. Perhaps Mr Tyson could enter the 21st century and have a printed quote and/or invoice available. Certainly a case of "buyer beware!" An disappointing experience.
I have had a few china repairs here and have been happy with the results, but recently when I queried his account over the phone he became rude and intolerant. The owner talked over the top of me and told me to work it out when my head was clear and that he was wasting his time talking to me. There was an unsatisfactory outcome.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. OUR GLASS AWARD WE DROPPED OFF TO BE FIXED WAS BROKEN AND PETER ALSO HUNG UP ON ME AND WAS SO RUDE ON THE PHONE. HE NEVER BOTHERED TO CALL ME TO TELL ME IT WAS BROKEN. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY BY ALL MEANS! PETER THE OWNER HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILSL AT ALL, OUR AWARD WAS IN HIS HANDS AND HE COULD NOT DEAL WITH A CUSTOMER BEING FRUSTRATED AT THE AWARD BREAKING.
HANGING UP ON SOMEONE WHO CAN USE WORD OF MOUTH FOR BUSINESS IS NOT A SMART MOVE
I've taken several pieces to be repaired now and have been really pleased with the results. One was a very damaged Japanese plate that they did a lovely job on repairing and also a figurine and a vase. You would be amazed at what they can do and they are very honest. Often the repairs are hardly detectable! They are right near Leonard Joel Auctioneers.
Beware do not sell to these people they will not give you a fair price. I lost my darling father earlier this year and made the huge mistake of asking these people to come and look at some antique silver, crystal, china, glassware and porcelain as well as other miscellaneous items which had belonged to my grand-parents and parents. I was grieving for my father and not thinking clearly so didnt realise the value of what I was selling, so after making a decision about their offer I made the huge mistake of accepting what I now realise was less than 10% of the value of the items. I have been so very upset and lost a lot of sleep over this. I have written to the Consumer Affairs Victoria hoping they can help . I dont know if it will do any good but hopefully even if I cant get justice by either getting my things back or getting a decent price, Its cruel enough to lose those we love, but then to be taken advantage of when were grieving and not thinking straight is abhorrent.
