Abbey Lake B & B Cottages
Abbey Lake Bed and Breakfast Cottages is set on one hectare, right in the middle of the Mystic Mountains on the outskirts of the tiny village of Narbethong, near Marysville. There are two country style cottages, each fully self-contained. Both the cottages have air-conditioning and a huge double spa bath. The Alpine Chalet style cottages are light and airy with lime washed walls. Rustic antiques feature throughout, from the pine breakfast table to the oak dresser. Upstairs is a romantic loft style bedroom with queen-sized bed and a huge cathedral window, which takes advantage of the lake and bushland views. Downstairs is the lounge and dining area, with a slow combustion fire for those crisp nights. Doors lead out to the wrap-around veranda where there is a gas barbecue and outdoor setting, an ideal place to enjoy a Yarra Valley wine and watch the wildlife on the property's wetland lake. The gardens around Abbey Lake are impressive, boasting a 60 year-old oak, Japanese maple and a stunning tulip tree. Guests at Abbey Lake will never run out of things to do. The famous vineyards of the Yarra Valley are only 30 minutes drive away. If you're feeling active you may want to take a bush walk through the magnificent tree fern gully. This four-kilometre walk winds its way up to the Steavensons Falls, one of the highest in Victoria. During winter there's cross-country skiing at nearby Lake Mountain.
